Breathe Your Way to Relief

Have you ever stared into the face of what appears to be certain disaster and felt absolutely liberated? All the asking and reading and listening and studying and visualizing… it eventually brings you face to face with all your stuff. The choice then, is to hang on for dear life to everything you think you know, or to completely let go and experience true freedom.

I never used to understand the concept of completely letting go – just surrendering, sitting with the feeling, letting it come up and move out of me. Huh? So I worked at figuring it out. I sat. I asked a lot more questions – why? how? when? what? But more questions just made me feel more agitated. So in a moment of clarity, I just gave up, and that’s when the relief hit me.

Finding relief from stressful thoughts and feelings is easier than it looks, so why do so many of us not get it? It really means, literally, sitting down and breathing and saying out loud, I give, I let it all go, I can’t control this, I don’t have to control this. I just have to breathe and wait for the relief to come. If you keep breathing, it comes. Not that hyperventilating, draw breath barely past your throat kind of breathing. But the sit down alone, push all the air out of you, and then slowly bring it back in all the way to your toes first, working your way up until you can’t take any more in. Hold it a second and let go. Do it again. And again until your body starts to relax, and it will.

It’s not hard. But for some reason it scares people. I still catch myself breathing these little itty bitty bits of air. No miracles can come into your life that way. They need lots of deep, full breaths to come in. The air brings relief to all your cells, and those energized cells raise your vibration, and that raised vibration brings good feelings. Good feelings, well, we all know what that’s like and I think that’s what we all really want. To feel good.

That’s the distillation of decades of spiritual research.

Breathe.

And love yourself…

What does that mean? I’ll think about that tomorrow.
