Fitness Mandala

We recently installed this tryptic at Gold’s Gym in East Windsor, NJ. It’s a gorgeous fitness center to begin with, and this piece just adds to its elegance. He lights up the whole lobby and radiates his magic mandala energy throughout the gym. If you’re local, stop in and have a look. He’s really cool!

Magic Mandalas

It hit me recently (again) that I was spending a lot of time talking with people about how helpful my mandalas are in balancing energy, but I (once again) wasn’t taking my own advice. I wasn’t choosing one that resonated with me. I wasn’t sitting with one and focusing on its center. I wasn’t taking time for myself, and I wasn’t keeping my cool the way I like to.

It happens. I go through cycles where I’m feeling really strong and I don’t bother to take time for myself. I’m busy!! Then that day comes when just one too many things happens and I either lose my cool or realize I’m about to.

This time, before I did something I’d regret, I sat down in a corner of my room and stared at the big mandala behind my computer – it’s purple and luscious and draws me in with its vibrating lines and wavy colors. In a few minutes, the whole world felt different. My body relaxed, my mind was calm and I was again empowered with my own essence. Not only do I appreciate that, but everyone around me benefits too.

I should do that every day, I thought. It doesn’t take much time, it feels good and nothing stops me but my own busy-ness. I’ve got a gold mine of magic mandalas just waiting to work me over any time I want. So I’m doing it. Ten minutes a day.

And it’s time right now. Here’s my mandala of choice this week.. maybe it’ll work its magic on you, too.

Same Ting Every Day

When I was a kid, I worked summers in my father’s greenhouses alongside grown-ups who were doing it for a living. Every morning, on my way down the walk, I passed Juan, a middle aged Mexican who worked in the rose houses. I’d say, Hola Juan, Como estas? And each day he’d groan and respond, “Same ting, every day.”

He was an angel in disguise, bidding me to carve a path that would free me from feeling that way about my own life!

Fast forward 30 years and far too many “same ting” days, I’ve managed to build a life in which I have no idea what will come next. And although that scared me at first, it now fills my veins with pure bliss. There are lots of people right now, in these changing times, who think they want their safe, predictable lives back. But I’ve learned that even if you think you have one, you don’t, and it’s nothing to aspire to.

This upheaval is a gift! If your comfort is being wrenched from you, see if you can let it go. See if you can surrender into no control, no plan, and ultimately no fear. This is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for! Go for the gold! Blow your “same ting” a kiss on its way out the door and make a vow to LIVE before you DIE!

A Mandala Wedding

Last winter, a lovely woman from across the globe asked me to make her some mandala table runners for her wedding – ten of them, ten feet long each! Of course, I said yes! What a project it was… and when I finally packed them in the box, I must say, they looked fabulous. Luckily, the bride-to-be agreed!

Just the other day, she sent me a few pictures of the big day… aren’t they beautiful?!

Heal Your Life with Mandalas

Did you know you can develop a relationship with mandalas that will help you heal your life? That’s what we’re all being asked to do at this time of great shift on our planet. Because mandalas are living entities with their own energy or life force, they can communicate and facilitate this healing. Not in the usual way, but subtly and powerfully, under the surface.

Begin by choosing a mandala that speaks to you. You’ll be drawn to it for one reason or another. Try not to let your mind decide, just feel it. Hang your mandala in a room that feels comfortable to you. Now sit or stand in front of it. Get to know its lines and colors. See if you can feel its vibration. Communicate with your mandala by focusing on its center while holding the palm of your hand over your heart. Remember to breathe! Now ask for an opening, either silently or aloud. You’re looking for a release, or a feeling of relief in an area of your body that feels tight. It may come immediately or much later. Just trust that it will come.

For best results, invite mandalas into every room in your house and practice connecting with them regularly. This is an active way to participate in your own mandala healing, and it’s guaranteed to bring welcome change to your life.
