Light the Way for Exploration

Resist the devilish dilettante
Forked his tongue, his countenance gaunt
He’ll sing a sweetened lullaby
Words untamed, poisonous lies

Unbeknownst to him, it seems
Rational, these old, worn themes
We do it this way just because
We always have, no need for love

To light the way for exploration
Not for want of adoration
But for equal satisfaction
Encouraging a new reaction

Taking thought beyond the mind
Deeper down, within, behind
The castle walls, the bridges drawn
Set them down, release the pawns

The King is dead, long live the Queen
Ruling from the floor, her team
Declares new rules to mark the hour
Humans stand to claim their power

Life force raging through their pens
Their brushes and their instruments
Let no man dare to write the laws
For we hold all the cards, let’s pause

To take in just how much we know
Our treasures make the fires glow
Personify the winds, the flowers
Mountains, oceans, trees, the hours

Lifted to the heights of dreams
Feelings flowing, color schemes
Painted voices, written word
Eternal wisdom will be heard

By all who seek to undermine
The gift of life so intertwined
With all, not just the well-to-do
But me, and them, and us and you
